Chairman of the Board — Cobil SA

Vision & Action

Economic Development

The DRC has everything it takes to become an economic power: natural resources, a geostrategic position, a large young population. What is missing are bridges — between the State and business, between capital and project leaders, between the DRC and the world. Jean Thierry Monsenepwo is working to build them.

Stabilize in order to develop

Energy is the lifeblood of the economy. By securing the country's fuel supply and contributing to the historic price drop of October 2024, the work carried out at COBIL SA has benefited the entire economic chain: transporters, traders, industrialists and households. The stabilization of the fuel market is the foundation on which other sectors can build.

Economic diplomacy in action

Convinced that development requires regional integration, he made COBIL SA's international expansion a strategic priority. The Johannesburg representative office, inaugurated in November 2024 in partnership with South African company Gimgro, is not a mere logistics relay: it serves as a commercial bridge between South African companies active in the DRC — particularly in the mining sector — and the Congolese economy. From Dar es Salaam to Pretoria, every partnership signed brings the DRC closer to its neighbors and strengthens its position in regional trade.

"Building bridges between the DRC and the world, to turn our potential into power."

Supporting Congolese entrepreneurship

Through the La Colombe cooperative, Jean Thierry Monsenepwo directly finances young project leaders. At RIDOPP 2024, he announced support for ten high-potential Congolese start-ups. His conviction: tomorrow's Congolese economy will not be built solely in large public enterprises, but also in the thousands of private initiatives led by the youth.

A declared ambition for the country

Asked about his ambitions, he replies that he is not "eyeing a ministry," but stands ready to serve wherever the Republic calls him — readily citing digital transformation, the economy and strategic communication as the fields where he could contribute most. "I am not looking for a seat; I am looking for a mission," he sums up.
