A continent-sized country at the heart of Africa, the DRC cannot depend on the goodwill of others for its energy supply. At the head of COBIL SA's Board of Directors, Jean Thierry Monsenepwo has made energy sovereignty the first priority of his mandate.
Securing the national supply
On June 20, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, COBIL SA signed a strategic partnership with Scientia Capital Limited / Africa Oil guaranteeing the monthly delivery of 70,000 metric tons of fuel to the DRC — the equivalent of 70 million liters. This agreement ended the recurring shortages that were suffocating the economy and durably stabilized the national market.
An unprecedented price drop
On October 3, 2024, for the first time since independence, the Congolese witnessed a spectacular drop in fuel prices, posted at 2,990 Congolese francs per liter at COBIL stations. This drop of more than 13% is the result of the policy set by the President of the Republic and executed by the Government, with the active support of State portfolio companies.

A public company with international reach
Under his mandate, COBIL SA has expanded beyond its borders: a strategic mission to South Africa in November 2023, a partnership with GIMGRO to modernize service stations in four major cities, an agreement with Africa Union Financial Services to produce lubricants adapted to Congolese climates, and, on November 30, 2024, the inauguration of COBIL's first representative office in Johannesburg — a strategic bridge between the DRC and Southern Africa.
